Effective date: April 1, 2025
Greetings, EDHR players! After gathering community feedback and analyzing game balance, we’ve decided to update the current banned list. Below are the details of the changes, including unbannings and new bans, along with explanations for our decisions. We hope these adjustments will enhance your gameplay experience while keeping it fun and fair!
Protean Hulk is unbanned.
Baral, Chief of Compliance is unbanned.
Flash is banned.

1. Protean Hulk
Protean Hulk was previously banned due to its potent triggered abilities and potential for infinite combos. However, as the EDHR meta has evolved, we’ve observed that the current card pool and strategic diversity are well-equipped to handle the threats it poses. Unbanning it will open up creative possibilities for players who enjoy creature-based builds and combo strategies. We trust the community can counter it effectively with existing tools like removal spells or graveyard disruption, so we’re excited to see this iconic powerhouse return to the table.

2. Baral, Chief of Compliance
Baral was once banned for its ability to reduce counterspell costs and stifle opponents’ plays, often locking games down in control-heavy decks. With the rise of faster strategies and more answers to commanders in the EDHR environment, its oppressive edge has diminished. We believe unbanning Baral will give blue control players more deckbuilding options without overly disrupting game interactivity. Players should find it manageable to adapt and counter this “Chief of Compliance” with flexibility.

1. Flash
Flash is a card with immense potential for abuse, thanks to its low-cost instant speed and synergy with enter-the-battlefield triggers. Particularly with Protean Hulk now unbanned, Flash could too easily enable game-ending combos, undermining EDHR’s focus on long-term strategy and interaction. To preserve a healthy and balanced environment, we’ve decided to ban Flash, preventing it from combining with other powerful cards to create overwhelmingly dominant situations.
Conclusion
This banned list update aims to maintain EDHR’s diversity and competitiveness. Unbanning Protean Hulk and Baral, Chief of Compliance expands player options, while banning Flash mitigates potential abuse. We’ll continue monitoring the impact of these changes and welcome your feedback. Feel free to share your thoughts on our website or community platforms!
Thank you for your understanding and support—let’s keep enjoying the thrilling games of EDHR together!
